3 Bus Robbers Nabbed in P’que


Parañaque City, Philippines – Three bus robbers, suspected to be members of the Sputnik Gang, were arrested after roving policemen thwarted their planned robbery-holdup in Parañaque City Sunday evening.

The suspects seen robbing passengers in a Fairview-bound bus in front of Baclaran Church were identified as Fernando Santos, 34, Leo “Jon” Rivera Jr., 34, and Alvin Padilla, 37, Parañaque police Chief Sr. Supt. Billy Beltran said.

After the suspects tried to escape leading to a brief chase, police recovered the weapons used in the crime, including balisong (Batangas knife) and several improvised knives.

On records, the three were involved in past bus heists in Parañaque, Pasay, Makati and Mandaluyong cities with cases on robbery and homicide.

Santos, Rivera and Padilla were charged with illegal possession of deadly weapon in addition to their existing records. ###
